Luis Lima Yacht Animation | Rebuilding a 45m Superyacht

Luis Lima is a truly unique rebuild project—originally constructed in 1991 as the 38m Proton yacht. Before the rebuild phase began, the original yacht was stripped down to just its hull and engine room. Everything above was redesigned and rebuilt entirely, from the general arrangement to the superstructure. Achieving the kind of features typically found on 60 to 65-meter yachts within a 45-meter vessel is a remarkable success story in itself.

Originally built in 1991 as the 38-metre Proton, Luis Lima is far more than a conventional yacht refit. The project represents a complete transformation in which the original vessel was stripped back to its hull and engine room before being reimagined as a 45-metre superyacht. At YachtBox’s facility in İzmir, virtually everything above the retained structure was redesigned and rebuilt, from the general arrangement to the superstructure.

The result is a yacht that brings features and spatial experiences normally associated with vessels significantly larger than 45 metres into a more compact platform. Luis Lima now offers a 90-square-metre beach club, an 85-square-metre flydeck, three large Jacuzzis, a swimming pool, multiple entertainment areas and a full wellness centre with a sauna. The project also incorporates two salons and five guest cabins, creating an unusually generous onboard experience for a yacht of its size.

To communicate this remarkable transformation visually, Meta Design Studio contributed to the CGI visualization of Luis Lima, creating imagery that brings the redesigned architecture, exterior spaces and distinctive interiors into focus. The visualization translates the scale and ambition of the rebuild into a photorealistic experience, allowing the renewed yacht to be understood as a complete design rather than simply an upgraded vessel.

From Proton to Luis Lima

The defining story behind Luis Lima is the extent of its transformation. Rather than modifying selected areas of the original Proton, the rebuild reconsidered the yacht from the inside out. The general arrangement, superstructure and living spaces were reworked to accommodate a completely new vision for life onboard.

This approach created an opportunity to achieve a level of functionality and luxury that would normally require a much larger yacht. The project demonstrates how intelligent spatial planning can challenge the conventional relationship between yacht length and onboard volume.

One of Luis Lima’s most compelling qualities is the amount of functionality compressed into its 45-metre length. Its exterior architecture is organized around substantial social and recreational spaces, including the expansive aft beach club with fold-down balconies, direct access to the sea, a large Jacuzzi/pool and integrated lounge and dining areas.

Above, the 85-square-metre flydeck extends the outdoor experience with panoramic views, a Jacuzzi, lounge seating, dining and a distinctive aft-facing bar. The upper deck is dedicated to the owner, combining a private salon, master suite, garden terrace and forward outdoor area. Together, these spaces give Luis Lima the spatial variety typically expected from a substantially larger superyacht.

A Distinctive Interior Built Around Pop Art

The interior design gives the rebuilt yacht another distinctive layer. Rather than following the restrained visual language often associated with contemporary superyachts, Luis Lima embraces a bold Pop Art-inspired aesthetic, creating a playful atmosphere while retaining a high level of sophistication.

The interior arrangement is equally ambitious. A dedicated wellness centre on the lower deck includes a 7-metre pool, sauna, bar and fold-down balconies, while the space can also be converted into a private cinema. A walk-through wine cellar, multiple bars, entertainment areas and generous guest accommodation further demonstrate how extensively the yacht’s interior was rethought during the rebuild.

Visualizing a Complete Yacht Transformation

For Meta Design Studio, the challenge was not simply to visualize a new yacht, but to communicate the scale of a transformation that is difficult to understand through conventional plans or technical documentation alone.

The CGI presents the redesigned yacht as a cohesive architectural experience, bringing together its enlarged exterior spaces, new superstructure and highly individual interior design. Photorealistic materials, lighting, reflections and carefully composed perspectives help communicate how the different levels and functions relate to one another.

The visual storytelling is particularly important for a rebuild of this nature: the images allow viewers to see the difference between the yacht’s original identity and the ambitious new experience created through its transformation.

Luis Lima demonstrates that yacht transformation is not necessarily defined by preserving the past. In this case, the original hull became the foundation for an almost entirely new architectural and lifestyle concept.
